Real Madrid's captain Luka Modric was confident, despite losing at Liverpool 2-0, because they can still be in the top eight of the Champions League league stage, as “there are still three games left”.
“The truth is that we are not used to it, but it is the Champions League and they are difficult matches. There are still three games left and we have to improve; do better than in recent games. We are going to do it because in La Liga the team was in a good dynamic. We did well in the first half, in my opinion. Then the penalty could have changed the match, we didn't take advantage of it and then came their second goal,” he told ‘Movistar+’.
“In the first half we did well in defence, being solid, with very close lines. We had quite a few counterattacks, but in the last third we lacked a little more,” he added.
“There is still a chance to be in the top eight. It's not an easy moment for us, but the Champions League is not won now. We have to be confident, but we have to do better. We have three difficult matches, especially at Atalanta. We can still get into the top eight if we win all three games,” he added.
In addition, Modric defended his teammate Kylian Mbappe, who missed a penalty while trailing 1-0: “We see Mbappe well, training well and with confidence. Sometimes things don't go his way, like the penalty. But I'm sure he will do what is expected of him,” he concluded.
