Former Real Madrid star Toni Kroos was named on Wednesday as the Golden Man of 2024, an award presented by Tuttosport newspaper to the best player of the season over the age of 21.
Decisive with Real Madrid, winner of the Champions League, La Liga and Spanish Super Cup, the German retired after the European Championship in his homeland this summer, where he lost to Spain in the quarter-finals.
Toni Kroos triumphed in the award that was decided in Turin ahead of Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior and Manchester City's Rodrigo Hernandez, who won the Ballon d'Or a few weeks ago amid controversy over Real Madrid's absence from the gala.
Tuttosport director Guido Vaciago sent Real Madrid and their president Florentino Perez a letter supporting the Madrid club's decision not to attend in Paris.
