Madrid midfielder Luka Modric trained with the squad on Friday after being ruled out of the semi-final against Mallorca due to a viral process, so it looks like he will be available to Ancelotti for the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona, as will Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde, who finished the game with muscle soreness.
The Croatian took part in the recovery session for the first-choice players this afternoon and will join the full squad on Saturday in training ahead of the final. At 39 years of age, the Balkan is aiming to win his 29th title with the ‘Merengues’ and his third of the season after the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.
Bellingham and Valverde, who also trained on Friday, have not suffered any further injury problems and, although they are not yet at 100%, will be fit to play against Barca. Frenchman Aurelien Tchouameni has recovered from the head knock he suffered in the second half and Ancelotti substituted him as a precaution.
In Friday afternoon's training session, the players who started against Mallorca, as well as Modric, were limited to recovery work. The substitutes carried out work in the gym and on the pitch, where they did physical series under the orders of Antonio Pintus, possession exercises, small-sided games, and shots on goal, Real Madrid reported on their website.
