Barcelona midfielder Pedri has assured on Tuesday, after a great performance in the victory over Brest (3-0) in the Champions League, that the former player and 'Cule' legend Andres Iniesta is his “role model” and tries to look like him.
“Iniesta was a superlative player, my role model, I try to look like him, but saving the distances. He had a spectacular career and I hope mine is a bit like his,” said the Spanish midfielder in the mixed zone of the Olympic Stadium Lluis Companys.
Pedri highlighted the value of “coming away with the victory against an opponent who had not lost” in the Champions League and also pointed out that “at this stage goals are very important for qualification”.
“If we had scored some more, it would have been better, but it was an important victory,” he added.
The midfielder discussed the keys to his performance: “I feel more comfortable in a more backward position, I play a lot of the ball. Above all, I try to give that calmness to the game, because many times we rush. I try to help the team to pause, to keep possession. When I have the ball I enjoy being on the pitch and that shows”.
Asked about Lamine Yamal, the Spaniard, from experience, threw a piece of advice to his compatriot: “Don't be in a hurry (to return), the worst thing is to relapse and I know what I'm talking about”.
On the meeting that, according to some media, has taken place this Tuesday between his agents and the club to negotiate his renewal, the Spanish international has assured that “he was focused on the game” and that he will talk to his representatives, although he recalled that he is “happy” at the Catalan club.
