Erling Haaland made headlines on Friday morning after Manchester City surprisingly announced in an official statement that the Norwegian striker had signed a new nine-and-a-half-year contract with the club.
The former Brosussia Dortmund man thus closes the door on a possible move to Real Madrid or Barcelona and will remain a terror to Premier League defenders and goalkeepers, which is reflected in his 111 goals in 126 appearances for the Sky Blues.
In fact, after the prolific striker's renewal was announced, the Cityzens posted a video on social media in which Haaland can be seen writing an open letter to his opponents asking them to ‘forgive’ him for staying at the Mancunian club.
"Dear defenders, I've been reflected on these last few years together. Like any relationships, there's been ups and downs, highs and lows. That's natural. Yes, we've had our battles, but you pushed me top be the best version of myself," he wrote.
"While things can get heated, we all need to let our hair down sometimes. Anyway, there's been a lot of rumours flying around recently. I get it. Sometimes you might not want me around, but I think we need each other. In other words, you complete. So all I have to say is: sorry, I have to stay. Erling," reads the letter.
