Thibaut Courtois completed on Sunday 250 games defending the goal of Real Madrid. A path that began with doubts in 2018, from which he recovered to be a key player in the successes of the Spanish team in recent years, as he did from the serious knee injury last season, and that have led him to be the second goalkeeper with the best percentage of clean sheets of the club.
Courtois celebrated his 250th appearance against the opponent against whom he has been beaten the least number of times, as against Getafe, counting Sunday's 2-0 win, he has kept 14 clean sheets in his career.
“It's very special to reach this number at the best club in the world, it's something I dreamed of. I'm happy and I hope to add a few more,” he said.
Courtois stressed the importance of the win against Getafe, which leaves Real Madrid on the verge of the leadership, before facing tough outings in LaLiga.
“We are going about our business and we have to play well in these matches, do our job and in May we will see where we are. Now we don't have to look too much at who's ahead and who's behind. We have improved a lot and we have some very tough away games coming up, like Athletic and Girona. If you want to win La Liga, you have to win in those stadiums and then we'll look at the Champions League,” he said on 'Real Madrid TV'.
