Barcelona midfielder Gavi, who scored a goal and provided an assist in the 2-0 win over Athletic Club in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final, explained that he dedicated his goal to his teammate Dani Olmo because "he is very important" for the team.
"I've done several celebrations, one of them was for Dani Olmo. He knows he is very important for us and he will be in the final. He always does it and that's why I did it. I told him before, that I would do it if he scored and I dedicated it to him," said the Spanish international in statements to 'Movistar+'.
In this sense, Gavi has expressed his satisfaction with the decision of the Superior Sports Council (CSD) to uphold the precautionary measure so that Olmo and Pau Victor can be provisionally registered. "They are players who help us a lot. We are all happy that they can now play," he said.
On the other hand, the Spanish international revealed that, after having been "out for a long time" last season due to a serious knee injury, he is feeling "better and better", and stressed that these physical problems are "a thing of the past".
"I'm happy for the team's victory, which is the important thing. I was lucky enough to score a goal and give an assist, but what matters is that we are in the final and we have to win it," said the midfielder.
Finally, the Barcelona player played down the importance of the on-field spats with Athletic defender Yuri Berchiche: "I like Yuri a lot as a player. He's very passionate like me on the pitch and it stays there".
