Giovanni Lo Celso was the main absentee from Betis' training session after the Argentinian picked up an injury last Saturday in Valladolid (1-0). The playmaker underwent medical tests on Monday to determine the extent of the injury and the club announced that he has a myofascial injury in his left adductor longus.
"After the assessment and tests carried out by the medical services on our player Giovani Lo Celso, it has been confirmed that he has a myofascial injury in the middle 1/3 of the left adductor longus," reads the player's medical report published by the Andalusian institution.
Although Betis have not confirmed the days the player will be out of action, the Sevillian press reports that the Argentine will miss the next two games of his team. Thus, the playmaker will not be in the Copa del Rey clash against Barca nor in the league clash against Alaves.
The aim set by the player himself is to be fit for the game against Mallorca on 25 January, but everything will depend on his progress. This is an unexpected setback for Pellegrini, who has a very difficult match against the reigning Spanish Super Cup champions on Wednesday.
