Atalanta's Dutch midfielder Marten De Roon will be fit to play against Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday after recovering in time from a blow to the head in the last Serie A match, which made him one of the doubts in Gian Piero Gasperini's starting XI.
The 33-year-old veteran midfielder, a key player for Gasperini, collided head to head with Como 1907's Argentinian Maximo Perrone last Saturday and had to be substituted a few minutes later at half-time.
A day after the clash, De Roon trained individually and cast doubt over his presence against Barcelona, which was finally confirmed when he returned to routine training with the rest of his team-mates on Monday afternoon, in the club's latest training session.
Nigerian Ademola Lookman, the club's undisputed star player, suffered an injury to his right knee which will prevent him from playing in the crucial clash at Montjuic.
Lookman's injury comes on top of long-term absences for Ivorian centre-back Odilon Kossounou and Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca.
With Barcelona already through to the last 16, Atalanta (14 points, +14 goals) are chasing the same objective. If they beat Hansi Flick's German side, they will avoid the play-offs. If they draw or lose, it will depend on the results of third placed teams, but with a point, their chances are high.
