Former Manchester City Sergio Gomez has warned his teammate Martin Zubimendi, who is reportedly a key target for the Premier League champions, against joining Pep Guardiola's side as he spoke to the microphones of 'AS'.

Martin Zubimendi has been at the top of Man City's priority list for quite some time now. The midfielder, currently at Real Sociedad, has been targeted by the Premier League champions to replace Ballon d'Or winner Rodri, who faces an extended period on the sidelines with an ACL injury.
The 25-year-old also came close to joining Liverpool last summer but ended up pulling out as he admitted that staying at the Basque side was "the best option". Despite showing reluctance to leave his boyhood club, the Spaniard continues to be linked to the English top flight as reports suggest City are prepared to lure him with a lucrative offer.
Nevertheless, Sergio Gomez, who spent two years with the Sky Blues before joining Real Sociedad last summer, cautioned his teammate not to move on from the La Liga side. “He’s much better at Real Sociedad than at Manchester City. I’ve already told you, it’s not that big of a deal,” the 24-year-old 'AS'. "Collectively we have gotten better, because the start was not as expected, but there were many additions and it was normal".
Gomez added: "Now, happy with how everything is going. The results have been consistent in recent months. As I told you before, it was obvious that the team was going to go further and continue to grow as well. [Sociedad] want to continue winning, being at the top, to fight for Europe, also being ambitious about winning titles. That is one of the things I like the most, things that attract me and for which I want to fight."
Despite Man City being relatively active in the transfer window, Pep Guardiola has refused to comment on any move. “All month you're going to ask the same about all we are linked within the media, so I'm not going to talk,” Guardiola told reporters. “You can insist, I'm not going to answer because I don't know the situation.
