A worker who was helping in the repair works of La Cermica Stadium died on Tuesday morning after suffering a work-related incident, according to the club's media. It happened on site, just outside the stadium.
At around midday, the Centre of Information and Emergeny Prevention was alerted that a worker had been run over by a forklift truck. Several medics arrived and were there until the SAMUR confirmed his death. He was 60.
The accident, which ended up killing an employee of the companty subcontracted by Villarreal to complete the works, took place on site where materials for the reparations were being stored.
That same day, they started to put the turf down with just over a week to go until Villarreal play their first league game after the works. They will be in action on the 31st December against Valencia.
