Manchester City will be heavily depleted when they travel to Tottenham in the EFL Cup on Wednesday. Pep Guardiola's side are missing six key players, with Rodri out with a season-ending injury and Kyle Walker, Jeremy Doku, Jack Grealish, Oscar Bobb and Kevin de Bruyne also missing.
The Belgian star's condition was the subject of analysis during the press conference ahead of the match against Spurs and the Santpedor-born coach did not give good news regarding his return to action. "I'd like to be able to tell you something and I especially wish I could know something, but right now I don't know," he said after being asked about the playmaker's return.
"He feels good for training, but not at the level we need in competition. When he kicks the ball he is still in pain and he is not feeling good. Kevin has to be perfect to be able to express the incredible talent he has. He is feeling better, but not at his best," concluded the Catalan coach.
The Belgian player has only played in 6 games for Manchester City and 2 more for the Belgian national team this season. He did not even travel during the last international break with his country to continue his training, but he still has a long way to go before he is fit. Haaland has been struggling since he had to be substituted at half-time in the Cityzens' 0-0 draw with Inter Milan in the Champions League.
