The Argentine Javier Mascherano, coach of Inter Miami, said Monday that he is confident that this week “reinforcements will begin to arrive” to his team, which kicked off its preparation for the start of the MLS season on Saturday.
“We know all the departures we've had, especially because we had a lot of people on loan and they have not been able to renew. We are working. I trust that this week some of the reinforcements we are working on will begin to arrive,” Mascherano said at a press conference.
“But well, it will also depend a lot on the paperwork, the visas. We know that it is complicated the issue of starting to train with us once they have all the papers in order,” he added.
Mascherano took the reins of Inter Miami after the departure of coach Gerardo Martino and will lead a group that includes former teammates from his time at Barcelona such as Leo Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez.
Among the players Inter Miami lost in recent weeks are Ecuadorian Leonardo Campana, Paraguayans Diego Gomez and Matias Rojas, as well as Argentine Franco Negri.
Messi, Luis Suarez and company will play their first preseason match on Saturday, January 18th against America of Mexico at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA).
