Virgil van Dijk enjoyed a comfortable 4-1 win over Ipswich Town on his 300th appearance for Liverpool on Saturday. The Dutchman provided another one of his vintage performances as Slot's side continued to lead the race for the Premier League title - their first English title since 2020 - ahead of Arsenal, who sit six points behind.
But with his Liverpool contract expiring in June 2025 and no talks taking place over an extension, fans continue to wonder whether they should savour these milestones ahead of a possible exit for the 33-year-old. "I have no idea," Van Dijk said about his future at the club. "How many left this season? Hopefully, those are guaranteed and then I don't know what the future will bring."
Speaking on his achievement post-match Van Dijk said: "Very proud. My family and my kids were here today so it was a special day. Good win so now we focus on the next one. There will be a day one day when I reflect on everything that's happened to me at Liverpool. Then I'll have a proper think about what stands out. Hopefully, there are still good things to come."
Having been told that he has the highest win percentage of any Liverpool player to get to 300 games, the centre-back added: "It shows I did quite well up until now. It's down to everyone involved - the players, the managers, the fans. It's a good stat to have. We will keep going." Van Dijk has started 297 of the 300 appearances he has made for the Reds. From those 330, he won 209, keeping 119 clean sheets and conceding just 277 goals - less than per game - while also scoring 25 himself.
