Real Madrid legend Pedja Mijatovic is clear that what his former club have achieved over the years is historic. Asked about possible signings to take the team to another level, he said that there is no "guarantee" that bringing in stars like Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland will ensure winning titles.

On Saturday it will be 25 years since the 'Septima', the Champions League that Real Madrid won against Juventus in 1998. The final goal was scored by Pedja Mijatovic and the former player spoke to 'Marca' about that achievement.
Mijatovic explained how he sees Madrid after the painful 4-0 drubbing by City, which left them without a final. Despite that setback, the Italian believes that what the team have achieved is historic.
"Now we are with the illusion of the 15th UCL title, maybe next year, while Kroos, Modric, Benzema are here... There will be good players in the future, but the last 10 years.... I hope I'm wrong, but I think one day we will say: 'How nice it was to win'," he said in an interview with Marca. "I am convinced that what we have experienced in the last decade is unrepeatable," he added.
As for signings, Mijatovic said that "as a Madridista" he expects "1 or 2 top signings". "I would certainly do it. Haaland or Mbappe? Or some young player who suddenly appears and all fans fall in love with him. The veterans will leave and a new era will begin. You have no guarantee you're going to win by bringing in Haaland, Mbappe or God," he commented.
"Madrid are doing very well. The transition is well done. I think we may suffer more next year, but in 2024, with the new pitch, I think we're going to get some great players," he predicted.
Finally, he gave his team a helping hand. "Madrid have won the Cup, the Super Cup and the Club World Cup, three titles, but if they don't win the Champions League, there are rumours. That's unfair to the players and the coach. But that's the way Madrid are... And who are we to change it?".
