The dismissal of Erik ten Hag from his position as Manchester United head coach has hit the club with a huge bill, as the Dutchman walked away with a £17.5m payout after his sacking.
According to the 'GOAL', the sum is reportedly the second largest pay-out any Man United manager has received sinnce Mourinho's rumoured final pay-out of £19.6m in 2018.
United announced the decision on Monday following the aftermath of the 2-1 defeat away at West Ham on Sunday. Ten Hag's tenure at Old Trafford thus comes to an end just four months after the club activated a one-year extension on his contract.
Had the former Ajax manager been relieved of his duties at the club last summer, Man United would have had to pay £7.5m less. The Red Devils have now spent a total of £70million simply on sacking managers over recent years. Since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure in 2014, the club have had nine different managers in charge in just over ten years.
