ESPN have now revealed that Ten Hag went as far as to ban Cristiano Ronaldo from the dressing room after he was sidelined for what happened in October 2022.
The incident dates back to the match against Tottenham just over two years ago. Cristiano Ronaldo, a substitute, refused to enter the pitch in the game's closing stages and then left the pitch before the final whistle. He was temporarily sidelined by Manchester United .
It seems that Cristiano Ronaldo tried to enter the dressing room to prepare for training alongside his team-mates, but Erik ten Hag gave the instruction that he should not be allowed to enter. Thus, a youth team player was the one who was able to access his locker to take off the boots of a Portuguese footballer who had to train after this bad experience with relative normality.
According to the aforementioned media, the staff, who agreed with a sanction for the player for what happened against Spurs, thought that Ten Hag had gone too far and lost a little confidence in the coach for the way he handled the situation.
