Spurs confirm Bentancur conscious after head injury in League Cup semis

It was a scary couple of minutes for Rodrigo Bentancur during the first minutes of the League Cup semi-final against Liverpool on Wednesday.
The Spurs midfielder went down to the ground after hitting his head in an attempt to intercept the ball on a corner kick. Remaining motionless with his arms outstretched, he attracted the attention of Pedro Porro, who immediately called for help.
The game was suspended for a few minutes to allow the doctors to intervene in peace and the player was later stretchered off the pitch as the crowd cheered in support.
Tottenham issued a statement at half-time confirming that the Uruguayan was conscious, talking and heading to the hospital for further checks.
