The news of Rodri winning the Ballon d'Or over Vinicius Jr was undoubtedly the talk of the football press on Monday. However, hours earlier Erik ten Hag's departure from Manchester United made headlines in the British press.
One of the first to react publicly to the end of the Dutchman's reign at Old Trafford was his counterpart Arne Slot, who gave a press conference ahead of Liverpool's EFL Cup tie against Brighton.
The former Feyenoord boss backed his compatriot to find another"big" club and admitted it was "hard" for him to hear that the Mancunian club had sacked the former Ajax boss.
"Well, he’s a Dutch manager so it makes it even harder for me and us as Dutch people. Obviously your first thoughts are with the person, we know in this industry and in this job it can happen," he told reporters.
"I know him a little bit and I know how much work he puts in, so to get this news it is a pity for him. But we also know how well he did at Ajax and he won two trophies here, so we will see him in the near future at a big club again," he concluded.
