Real Madrid confirmed on Wednesday that defender Jesús Vallejo has sustained a hamstring injury, dealing a setback to Carlo Ancelotti's squad depth ahead of their Copa del Rey semi-final.
The club's medical statement revealed that Vallejo "has been diagnosed with an injury to the femoral biceps of his left leg", with his recovery progress being closely monitored.
The injury leaves the 28-year-old centre-back out of Wednesday night's game against Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena.
The semi-final first leg is expected to be tough as the Basque side boast an impressive record of five consecutive home wins.
The timing of this injury for Vallejo is unfortunate as the player has struggled to play regularly this season and has only made two appearances for Los Blancos.
