Shock in the Premier League. A footballer, whose identity has not been revealed for legal reasons, has been arrested for allegedly recording a sex tape without consent, The Sun reported.
The player, "a man in his 20s", was accused by a woman of secretly filming a sexual relationship even though she allegedly asked him not to. "It was determined that no further action would be taken due to lack of evidence," police said.
The player was arrested in the middle of training camp this week to the astonishment of his teammates, who, upon seeing the police officers, thought it was a prank.
The source quoted claims that the footballer was arrested at 11 am and was released six hours later after speaking to police forces and two phones were confiscated in search of images and video recordings.
"Many stars initially thought it was a prank when two uniformed officers entered the pitch during training. Everyone was incredulous. The players were dumbfounded. No one knew what was going on," a source told The Sun. The club in question has declined to comment.
The player returned to training on Thursday and could play in this weekend's FA Cup third-round tie.
