Milan end the year with a big match waiting for them as Roma pay a visit to the San Siro on matchday 18 of the Italian top flight. The 'Rossoneri' have been struggling with consistency this season and find themselves in 8th place with 26 points after having won seven, drew five and lost four of their league games. Having beaten Hellas Verona 1-0 in the previous round, they will look to repeat themselves tonight as they desperately chase the European spots.
Roma have also lacked continuity this season due to the numerous managerial changes, but now seem to be finding their footing under Claudio Ranieri after two convincing home wins against Sampdoria (4-1) and Parma (5-0). The 'Giallorossi' have accumulated 19 points following five wins, four draws and eight defeats in the campaign so far, sitting in 11th place.
The hosts' lengthy injury lists could heavily impact the game as Paulo Fonseca's side are without Yunus Musah, Okafor, Pulisic, Jovic, Loftus-Cheek, Florenzi and their main star Rafael Leao, who was the latest blow for the team. That said, there is a piece of positive news as Theo Hernandez looks set to return to the starting XI after being benched for two successive games. According to Gianluca DiMarzio, the Frenchman has cleared the air with the Milan boss, who had ruled him out for 'tactical reasons'.
On the other hand, Roma have been spared from major injury woes as Bryan Cristante is the only doubt for the clash. The midfielder sustained an ankle injury against Atalanta, but could soon make his return to the squad as Manu Kone, Leandro Paredes and Niccolo Pisilli are instead set to cover the middle of the park tonight in Milan.
Milan's possible starting XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan (GK); Emerson Royal, Gabbia, Thiaw, Theo Hernandez; Fofana, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Morata, Jimenez; Abraham.
Roma's possible starting XI (3-5-2): Svilar (GK); Mancini, Hummels, Ndicka; Saelemaekers, Kone, Paredes, Pisilli, Angelino; Dybala, Dovbyk.
