"Our bond is very strong" - Xabi Alonso on potential Real Madrid move

Targeted in some media as a possible replacement for Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid at the end of the campaign, Xabi Alonso dodged every interrogation on that subject, from his first answer of the press conference: “You can well imagine that I can say absolutely nothing (about his future) because we are in the middle of the season”.
“All clubs have big objectives. Atleti has them, Madrid has them, we have them, and I'm working to achieve them. Every three days we have matches between all competitions, we come here to get to be in the top eight, Atleti too and I'm focused on that, above all,” he said.
Xabi Alonso played 236 games for the 'Merengue' side, scoring 6 goals and winning 5 titles, including a Champions League against Atletico Madrid in 2014.
“Over the years, time goes by, but the affection remains. That relationship is unforgettable. That will remain there,” he said about the affection he receives from the fans of the white team.
“Of course we are grateful for the relationship, because our bond is very strong, because it was a very beautiful period as a player and they were very intense years that cost us to get what we wanted and, when we got it, it was very celebrated. And that will remain,” he added.
Xabi Alonso has “neither” been “prepared” nor is he “bothered” or “surprised” by questions about his future. “I'm very calm, I'm thinking about Atletico on Tuesday against Leverkusen in the Champions League, that's what I'm preparing for and we have enough,” he added.
