Manchester City have a new player to bolster their attacking department in Omar Marmoush. The Egyptian star landed in Manchester on Thrusday to put pen on an x-year contract with the defending champions after an agreement was reached with Eintracht Frankfurt for a deal worth €80million.
Negotiations progressed relatively swiftly as personal terms between the player and the club were agreed upon before talks with Frankfurt began. While City were initially looking to pay in the region of €60m, they ended up caving to the German side's exceeded demands as the forward was considered to be a top target by the board.
Marmoush's stellar performances this season with Eintracht Frankfurt - 20 goals and 13 assists from 26 games in all competitions - put him on the radar of several giants across Europe as reports informed that Liverpool and Man United had been interested in signing him before the opening of the January transfer window.
However, it was Pep Guardiola's side who ended up sealing the deal for the 25-year-old. City have been in search of a replacement for Erling Haaland, who recently penned a nine-year-deal with the club, since the departure of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid for a club-record £82m deal last summer. Marmoush was deemed to fit the profile of the Argentine striker.

The No.88 striker leaves 'Die Adler' with 37 goals and 19 assists in 67 appearances after joining them from Wolfsburg in 2023. The forward, who was excluded from the Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund due to ongoing talks with the Citizens, said goodbye to the supporters during the post-match celebrations as he joined his teammates on the pitch.
In his new adventure in England, Marmoush will be looking to salvage the Sky Blues' troubling season as hopes for a fifth consecutive Premier League title look as good as over. Guadiola's men sit in 4th place, languishing 12 points behind leaders Liverpool. The situation in the Champions League is even more critical as City find themselves down in 22nd, one point away from the elimination zone ahead of crucial games against PSG and Club Brugge.
