On Sunday, Portuguese icon Nani announced his retirement at the age of 38, bringing an end to a glittering career that saw him shine for clubs like Manchester United, Sporting Lisbon, and Valencia.

Former Premier League player Nani, who was considered one of Portugal's most celebrated footballers, has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 38.
The winger leaves behind a legacy of success across some of Europe's top leagues, having played for Manchester United, Sporting Lisbon, and Valencia during his illustrious career. His most memorable years came at Manchester United, where he spent eight seasons, winning four Premier League titles, two League Cups, and the UEFA Champions League in 2008.
"The time has come to say goodbye, I have decided to finish my career as a professional player," he wrote on social media.
A key figure under Sir Alex Ferguson, the Portuguese dazzled fans with his skill on the wing, scoring 41 goals in 230 appearances for the Red Devils. He also enjoyed notable success at Sporting Lisbon, the club where he began and later returned to reignite his career.
"Time to turn a new leaf and focus on new goals and dreams. It's been an amazing ride and I wanted to thank every single person who has helped me and supported me through the highs and lows during a career which lasted over 20 years and gave me so many unforgettable memories," he concluded in his statement.
The Portuguese star also shone on the international stage, earning 112 caps and scoring 24 goals for his country. He played a vital role in Portugal's historic triumph at Euro 2016, serving as vice-captain and contributing important performances throughout the tournament.
