Left-back Gerard Martin has renewed his contract with Barcelona until 30 June 2028, the Catalan club announced in a statement on Friday.
The Barcelona player signed the new contract at midday at the Catalan club's offices last Thursday, who made the deal official this Friday.
Signed last season from Cornella by Barca Atletic, with whom he was an undisputed starter under Rafa Marquez, Martin (Barcelona, 2002) earned the trust of first-team coach Hansi Flick this season.
"I'm very proud of everything I'm achieving and hope everything continues like this. I have to keep working and make the most of all the opportunities I have and, in the end, win as many titles as we can, which is always Barca's objective", explained the player in statements to the club's media.
The 22-year-old Catalan full-back was part of Flick's squad for the summer tour of the United States, an opportunity he took advantage of and which led him to make his official debut with the first team on the first day of La Liga against Valencia. Martin came on in the 63rd minute in place of Alejandro Balde.
Since then, the Barcelona player has played 17 official games for Barcelona this season, eight of which he has started, becoming a guaranteed replacement for left-back Alejandro Balde.
