Deportivo Alaves announced on Thursday the departure of Alex Balboa from the club. The midfielder reached the first team in the season of promotion to La Liga, albeit in a purely testimonial capacity.
After reaching the top flight, the Mendizorroza club loaned him out to SD Huesca last term in the hope that he would get playing time and grow as a player with the Aragonese side. However, he did not get any playing time in the 2023/24 season either.
"Deportivo Alaves would like to thank the player for his work and commitment during his time at the club and wish them the best of luck in their personal and professional future," said the club after announcing Balboa's departure as a free agent to Almere City.
According to the Eredivisie club, Alex Balboa has signed for two seasons with an option for a third and he has already offered his first words on his new club: "It's an incredible opportunity for me and I'm really looking forward to working here.
"It's a great challenge in the strong competition that is the Eredivisie and I want it to be a great year for the team and for me."
