Juventus have announced on Wednesday the arrival Portuguese defender Alberto Costa, who joins the 'Bianconeri' from Vitoria Guimaraes in a permanent deal worth €12.5million.

Juventus have a new name to boost their defensive departement as Alberto Costa has officially been unveiled as a new 'Bianconeri' player. The Portugal international, arriving from Vitoria Guimaraes, becomes the first signing for the Turin club since the opening of the January transfer window.
"Juventus can confirm the arrival of Alberto Costa, a young Portuguese defender born in 2003, who is ready to bring grit and quality to the Bianconeri's backline," the Italian club wrote in a statement. "Juventus and the player have signed a contract of employment until 30 June 2029".
The absences of Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal, both sidelined with long-tern injuries, prompted Thiago Motta's side to look for an immediate replacement in defence ahead of a crucial second-half of the campaign.
The 21-year-old quickly established himself in Vitoria Guimaraes' starting lineup after making his way up the team's youth ranks. Although he is yet to feature for the senior squad, Costa has already made appearanes with Portugal's under-18s and under-20s sides.
According to Fabrizio Romano, negotiations came to an once the two clubs agreed on a deal worth €12.5million plus €2.5million of add-ons, while 'Goal' reports that Costa is set to receive an annual salary of €500.000.
