Christopher Nkunku is considering bidding farewell to Chelsea, according to the latest report from 'The Telegraph' and French outlet 'L'Equipe'. The forward is said to be unhappy about his playing time under Enzo Maresca after failing to secure a starting place in the Blues' star-packed team - he has only one start in the Premier League this season.
Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in the 2023/2024 campaign, though he was barely able to partake with the team as he was plagued with injuries throughout the season. Although his minutes have significantly increased this season, Nkunku has struggled for game time in the leauge, with Maresca saving him for Conference Leauge and Carabao Cup matches.
The Frenchman has been casted in the background, with the likes of Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson currently taking the centre of the stage under Maresca. Due to the frustrating circumstances, Nkunku could now choose to depart the club from as early as January as Chelsea are understood to be willing to offers for if they can recoup his £52m transfer fee in full.
Manchester United have emerged as a possible destination for the 26-year-old. The Red Devils could look to make bring in a new asset in attack given the lack of impact from summer-signings Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. Nkunku was reportedly the subject of an enquiry from United last summer, though there was no official approach. Nkunku could choose to leave Stamford Bridge to revive his career under new manager Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
