In his second season in the elite of football, Lamine Yamal is proving that he is not a promise, but a reality. His many technical resources have been compared to several stars, but especially those associated with the history of Barcelona. Some fans compare his moves to Neymar, others believe he has the potential that Leo Messi had as a teenager.
In the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, he backed up these comparisons with a new exhibition. Hansi Flick's side overcame Real Betis, who they thrashed 5-1 in Montjuïc, with a goal and an assist from the European champion with the Spanish national team.
His performance went beyond the statistical. He displayed a series of dribbles and flashes with which he delighted the stands... and one of the players he admires so much.
On Instagram, the La Masia youth player posted several photos of the victory over the Andalusians with the caption "enjoying". Neymar posted a comment saying "You're very Brazilian. Dance, crack’’ along with an emoticon of applause and another of laughter.
The Brazilian was at Barcelona from the 2013-14 season until the 2016-17 season, after which he signed for Paris Saint-Germain in a €222 million transfer. Since then all Barca fans have been thinking about what he would have achieved had he stayed with his friend Leo Messi at Barcelona.
