Newcastle United and Atlanta United have reached an agreement on the transfer of Paraguayan player Miguel Almiron.
The 31-year-old midfielder is close to returning to the MLS club that launched his career in Europe. Atlanta United have agreed to pay around $12 million for his services.
The player has verbally agreed to a four-and-a-half year contract. Almiron is expected to travel to Atlanta in the coming days to undergo medical tests and finalise the signing.
This transfer marks an important moment for both clubs, as Newcastle United get back a portion of the $27 million they paid for Almiron in 2019.
During his time in the Premier League, Almiron made 223 appearances for the Magpies, scoring 30 goals and providing 12 assists.
