Napoli had Haaland signed and they could extend Spalletti whenever
Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli admitted in an interview with 'Corriere dello Sport' two very interesting facts. The first was that they had already agreed to pay the Haaland's buy-out clause from Salzburg, who ended up going to Borussia Dortmund. The second was that Luciano Spalletti's contract has a clause which allows the club to renew it automatically.

Napoli managed to get a deal signed with Salzburg to pay Haaland's release clause , and to make sure that his first experience of the main leagues was in Serie A, but the player ended up going to Borussia Dortmund. He is now playing at Manchester City, and he is one of the best in the business. The sporting director of Napoli revealed what the Italian side thought about him in an itneresting interview to 'Corriere dello Sport'.
"We had already signed the contract with Salzburg to pay the release clause of €25 million. He then chose Borussia Dortmund and we went for Osimhen who, in our opinion, was better than the Norwegian" he recognised. He also admitted that there is a clause in Luciano Spalletti's contract which means it gets renewed automatically, so his future for the short to medium term is guaranteed.
"There's complete harmony with him, he's part of building the team. The club has in its favour the option to extend his contract for another year. As for my contact that ends in 2024? I'm in no rush, 20 months is ages. If we go back, where were we 20 months ago?" he asked. It is very likely therefore, that him and the manager end up tie themselves down for a few more years.
When asked about Kvaratskhelia, who is on the way out, he claimed that "we were following him since the Ancelotti days, but Rubin Kazan asked us for €30 million. The war then changed his price and we went back when Khvicha had gone to Dinamo Batumi. Is it already the time the talk about renewing him? There is a solid relationship with 'Kvara's' agent, and we'll have the chance to speak about it and get an update".
