Despite the constant changes in his life over the last two years, Alvaro Morata admits to being a happy guy now in Turkey after his move to Galatasaray. This is what he openly acknowledges in his latest interview in 'Marca', where he reviews the episodes that have changed his career in recent years. His departure from Atletico, his time in Milan or where he sees himself in the future when his current stage is over. As always, a very approachable guy.
Turkey has been a great discovery for Morata. “I am very happy and living an experience that may be different, but I have found a wonderful country, an incredible club and nice people. I love the life I have here and I am very happy to have come. If everything goes well, next season I will be playing in the Champions League and that is something important for me. I wanted to continue competing at the highest level, which is not easy,” he recalled.
The turning point with the European Championship: “Some of us had to accept another role, less showy than scoring a lot of goals, as in my case. I had to run more than anyone else and accept it. I had to work for the team and get rid of the thorn from the previous European Championship in which we reached the semifinals. It changed my life. Whenever I'm sad, I put on photos and videos of the European Championship. Lamine and Nico? They are the most enthusiastic, but they are polite and respectful. They tease you, but they've understood that there's a time to work and a time to laugh.
In a review of his career, he took a dig at Getafe: “My big thorn is not having won a title with Atletico, that will stay with me forever. Any dream to fulfill? I'm not talking about dreaming anymore because we have a mess, but yes, I dreamed of playing for Galatasaray... Just kidding. I would like to return to the president of Getafe, Ángel Torres, all the affection they showed me when I was 13 years old. My heart asks me to return to enjoy a year or two or however many years there. I hope it will be after this experience in Turkey. Maybe at that time Getafe has grown much more than it is doing and I don't have a place. I don't know, but I would love to play for Getafe to finish my career.
