Alvaro Morata may play again this weekend against Venezia, but if he does, he will start from the bench. The plan is to rest him so that he is 100% ready for the Champions League clash against Liverpool and then for the ‘Derby della Madonnina’ against Inter in Serie A.

Milan striker Alvaro Morata, who recently returned to action with the squad after overcoming a quadriceps injury, is set to come on as a substitute against Venezia on Saturday and is pushing for a starting place in the Champions League clash against Liverpool and next week's clash with Inter.
Morata, who had to miss the games against Parma and Lazio after his debut against Torino, as well as the Nations League games with the Spanish national team due to some discomfort in his left quadriceps that he had been carrying for some time, is already training with the group normally and will be back this Saturday at the San Siro.
However, as a precaution and as happened against Torino in the first matchday, he is expected to start from the bench. Already in that match he was decisive in just 30 minutes with a goal that led to the ‘Rossoneri's’ final equaliser.
Against Venezia, it will be England's Tammy Abraham, recently arrived from Roma, who will lead the attack while Morata, who will have to get into rhythm with the week's training sessions and the playing time he can get against this team, is the main candidate to start against Liverpool on Tuesday in the Champions League and in the ‘Derby della Maddonina’ against Inter. Two key games in this bumpy start to the season for a Milan side that has yet to win and whose coach, Paulo Fonseca, is in the hot seat.
Of particular importance will be the clash against the ‘Nerazzurri’ neighbours in Milan, in what will be the first derby in the city to be played after the last one in which Inter clinched the Scudetto.
The man who will certainly miss all three games is Algeria's Ismael Bennacer, who will be out for three to four months after injuring his calf while playing for his national team during the last break. The player already missed most of last season with a right knee injury.
