Milan face Empoli in their upcoming Serie A match as the 'Rossoneri' are in search of a crucial three points that will keep them within the Champions League spots. Ahead of the game, Paulo Fonseca highlighted the importance for his side to have consistency.
"Our last two games have been very different from one another. Against Juventus we were more organised, while the game against Slovan was more about transitions," he said during his press conference on Friday. "We are trying to improve everyday, but positive results should not make us forget about our problems. Winning against Bratislava was very important, but we still need to work on our defending if we want to grow".
The manager also spoke on the possibility of an attack led by former Chelsea duo Morata and Abraham. "I always think about the option to have a two-man attack. It's a solution that could work against specific opponents. It is probably harder to do in Italy, but we want to find the right balance. The team needs to feel confident in defence in order to attack convincingly".
Lastly, the Portuguese spared some words for Rafael Leao, who seems to have found his footing after a difficult start to the campaign. "I'm happy with the way he has reacted, but I need him, and all the others, to be consistent with his performances. We have a more stable pairing in defence, but we cannot afford to have the same players all the time with our demanding calendar," he concluded.
