"Messi will arrive in very good shape for the playoffs"

Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino said Friday that he is convinced that Leo Messi will arrive “in very good shape” to the MLS playoffs and that all he needs is “competitive rhythm”.
“Leo will get better and better as he plays 90 minutes. Obviously, he doesn't need to do differentiated physical work in training, but he needs competitive rhythm,” said Martino at the press conference prior to Saturday's home match against Charlotte.
“Every time he plays a full game, I think he's going to arrive in very good shape for the playoffs because in addition to the games with us, he has the games with the national team,” he added.
Messi, 37, returned to competition two weeks ago after two months out with a right ankle injury. He scored two goals and provided an assist in his return in the win against Philadelphia Union and Inter Miami were held to draws against Atlanta and New York City.
