Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino said on Friday that Leo Messi "is available" for Saturday's MLS clash with Philadelphia Union and will be able to return to competition after two months out with an ankle injury.
"He's fine now, he's back in training. He's ready for the game. After training, we will define the strategy with him, but he is available," he said at the pre-match press conference at Chase Stadium.
"We have the best player in the world back in the team, who was on a positive run, so we are all happy about that," he added.
Messi has not competed since July 14, when he was injured in Argentina's Copa America final win over Colombia. The Argentina forward has returned to normal training this week, except for one day when he rested because of a throat problem.
"The condition he had that prevented him from training came together with the recovery of the ankle, but he had been training quite well, we always thought that this was the game for him to come back. Luckily that was only one day, he has been training normally. We just have to take into account what happened to him to define the strategy," added Martino.
