According to 'the Mirror', the league clash between Everton and Liverpool is set to be rescheduled for February 11. The Merseyside derby was called off on Saturday due to adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Darragh, which raised serious safety concerns for players, fans, and staff.
Premier League rules state that postponed fixtures should be rescheduled for the next available midweek date, however, Liverpool's cup-filled schedule may deny the possibility of having an earlier slot. An almost-certain qualification into the Champions League last 16 means that the Premier League need approval from UEFA to stage a league match on a Champions League date.
However, the result of the Reds' upcoming fixture against Southampton in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals could also change things. Should Arne Slot's men lose against the Saints, the Merseyside derby could be scheduled for one of the two Carabao semi-final weeks in January.
The Premier League have not commented on the situation, reports the English outlet, as confirmation will only arrive once Liverpool are mathematically certain to make it into the Champions League knockout round.
