McAtee on Leverkusen's radar as Wirtz interest grows

Bayer Leverkusen have set their sights on Manchester City midfielder James McAtee for a summer move, with the 22-year-old still on their radar after their January approach was rejected.

The German side are looking for a playmaker to fill the void left by their star, Florian Wirtz, who is now being courted by Pep Guardiola's Manchester City. Leverkusen hope McAtee could be the ideal replacement.
Although McAtee has expressed his desire to secure a regular spot in City's starting XI, competition for attacking midfield roles is stiff, with the likes of Jack Grealish and Kevin de Bruyne possibly leaving this summer.
This could provide McAtee with a chance for more first-team opportunities, but he's also drawn to the idea of a consistent role elsewhere.
City, meanwhile, have their eyes set on Wirtz, who is only a year younger than McAtee but has already broken into the German national team. Leverkusen might be open to using the English playmaker as part of any potential deal for Wirtz this summer.
