Mbappe has to be the 'star' of Real Madrid, says Rodrygo

Brazilian Rodrygo Goes highlighted the importance of Real Madrid's 5-1 win over Salzburg in a Champions League match at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, after admitting that this season they are "failing" in important games.
‘It's a very important day for us, winning in the Champions League gives us a lot of confidence. I'm very happy to score again, to help my team on a very special night,’ he said on “Movistar +”.
"I will always defend the coach, it's clear that sometimes we go through difficult moments that we don't want to go through, we work hard every day to always be well but it's difficult. This season we are failing in games we can't fail in, but this victory gives us a lot of confidence for the big challenges we have," he added.
Rodrygo, who scored a brace, was not named player of the match but was happy that Vinicius was chosen and stressed how easy it is to play alongside Jude Bellingham.
‘It's OK, we play for the team and it doesn't matter who gets the trophy. I'm happy for him (Vini), he's scored two goals and he's always good. The most important thing is to continue like this, winning and scoring goals,’ he said.
"It's very easy to play with Jude, he makes everything easier with the moves he makes, the balls he gives you. The assist was very nice. I'm delighted to play with him," he added.
The former Santos player was also asked about Vinicius' comments on Mbappe, in which the Real Madrid No 7 said they would help the Frenchman become the top scorer in all competitions. "If he has to be the star? Yes. He is the centre forward, the one who is closer to the goal so it is easier for him to score goals. We are going to help him because of the quality he has and he will help us a lot too," he concluded.
