Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund's return from long-term injury is the main addition to Denmark's squad for the Nations League games against Spain and Switzerland. It was unveiled on Monday. Along with Hojlund, there are three other new men in the squad: goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow, midfielder Jens Stage and centre-back Rasmus Nicolaisen, the latter a debutant.
There are 25 players in the squad, more than usual because several could be suspended if they pick up a yellow card against Spain. Denmark top UEFA Nations League group A4 after winning their opening two home games against Switzerland and Serbia, both 2-0, ahead of Spain, who are two points behind.
The Danes will first face Spain (12 October) before travelling to Switzerland three days later.
The call-up list is made up of the following players:
- Goalkeepers: Kasper Schmeichel (Celtic/ESC), Frederik Rønnow (Union Berlin/ALE), Mads Hermansen (Leicester/ING).
- Defenders: Joachim Andersen (Fulham/ING), Jannik Vestergaard (Leicester/ING), Victor Nelsson (Galatasaray/TUR), Victor Kristiansen (Leicester/ING), Patrick Dorgu (Lecce/ITA), Alexander Bah (Benfica/POR), Rasmus Nissen Kristensen (Eintracht Frankfurt/ALE), Rasmus Nicolaisen (Toulouse/FRA).
- Midfielders: Morten Hjulmand (Sporting Lisboa/POR), Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Olympique Marseille/FRA), Christian Eriksen (Manchester United/ING), Morten Frendrup (Genoa, ITA), Christian Norgaard (Brentford/ING), Jens Stage (Werder Bremen/ALE).
- Forwards: Kasper Dolberg (Anderlecht(BEL), Albert Gronbaek (Rennes/FRA), Andreas Skov Olsen (Brugge/BEL), Yussuf Poulsen (Leipzig/ALE), Mikkel Damsgaard (Brentford/ING), Jonas Wind (Wolfsburg/ALE), Gustav Isaksen (Lazio/ITA), Rasmus Hojlund (Manchester United/ING).
