Manchester United and Chelsea are monitoring the situation for Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo for the summer transfer window. According to 'Caugh Offside', the two Premier League giants are planning a swoop for the Uruguayan, who's contract with Barca expires in 2026.
The Catalan giants have began negociating terms with the player over a potential contract extension, as confirmed by president Joan Laporta. “We are working on Araujo, De Jong and Pedri’s new contracts," Laporta revealed, speaking during Barcelona’s Ordinary General Assembly.
While talks over Araujo’s renewal are reportedly progressing well between the two camps, the possibility of a breakdown remains until the 25-year-old pens the contract. Barca's financial difficulties could stall the deal, giving Chelsea and Man United the chance to dive on Araujo, who could be lured in with lucrative contract.
Araujo's start to the 2024/2025 season has been delayed due to an hamstring tear suffered during the Copa America in the summer. The player is said to be making good progress in his recovering and is expected to return mid December, though it is likely that Flick will ease Araujo's way back into a squad after a lengthy abesence.
