According to 'the Daily Mail', mouse droppings were discovered during a recent safety visit to Manchester United's Old Trafford, which led inspectors to cut down the club's food hygiene rating to two stars from a possible five.
Club officials are now working with pest control partners and the local council to solve the problem, which includes implementing a series of measures to ensure the problem can be successfully tackled. The same source reports that inspectors found evidence of mice activity in corporate suites on the ground floor as well as in a kiosk that sells food.
This is not the first pest incident the Red Devils have encountered as these long issues are linked to the stadium's location between a canal and a railway line. On top of that, the cold weather during the winter period is thought to have aggravated the situation.
Just less than a month ago, fans had seemingly spotted a dead rat under one of the seats during a Europa League game at the Theatre of Dreams. Pest control professionals will reportedly visit the club up to five times a week to monitor progress, as the aim is to get rid of the infestation in the coming weeks.
