DUGOUT_eyJrZXkiOiI2Z2l3NWJPdSIsInAiOiJiZXNvY2NlciIsInBsIjoiIn0 Manchester United are back on track since Erik ten Hag has come in. The Dutch manager has gone from strength to strength since he took the reigns and he quickly introduced a winning mentality to the Red Devils, who have slowly but surely got their historical identity back.
The managerial staff are far from being happy with their successes this season, and they've started to identify where they need to improve ahead of next season, as their main goal will be fighting for the UEFA Champions League.
Therefore, the Red Devils have come to the conclusion that they need to get a big-name number 9 in to give some competition to Wout Weghorst and Anthony Martial, taking into account that those two could leave the club next summer. They still don't have new deals sorted.
Faced with this, 'The Sun' reported that the favourite to get the job is none other than Victor Osmihen, the Nigerian striker who's playing at Serie A leaders Napoli. Several Premier League sides also have their eyes on him, like Arsenal and Chelsea.
However, United's plan is more ambitious. Ten Hag wants the Nigerian forward to become the front-line's leader and for him to inherit the number 9 shirt which Martial currently has. It's also been reported that the Reds would be willing to fork out up to €100 million.
We'll have to see what happens in the next few weeks, but what's for sure is that 27 year-old Osimhen could be heading to Manchester to start a new history in English football. As for Napoli, they're hoping to reap a decent sum for a move.
