Savinho had scored for Manchester City in the last moments of the first half to reduce the two-goal defecit against Tottenham, however his Carabao Cup game ended in the worst possible way as he was forced off the pitch due to what looks to be a serious injury.
The forward left the pitch with tears in his eyes as he was escorted by the medics using a stretcher at the 63rd minute of the game. The injury seems to have happened as the player tried to cross the ball, seemingly putting weight on his right ankle when going to ground.
Savinho was down in pain for a couple of minutes before the stretcher was called for. Guardiola opted for Man City academy product Jacob Wright to replace the Brazilian. The extent of his injury is yet to be confirmed, as medical examinations will be carried out in the coming days.
Savinho arrived at the Etihad in the summer from La Liga side Girona. He has been delivering consistent performances under Pep in the English top flight, registering three assits from 12 appearances so far. His injury is a major blow for the Citizens, who already have a long list of players sidelined.
