Man City boss Guardiola calls for essential January reinforcements

Manchester City have won just one of their last 12 matches—a run of form almost unthinkable since Pep Guardiola took charge. The Spanish manager has yet to find a solution to the team's struggles, and while tactical adjustments have been explored, Guardiola is also focusing on individual contributions.
With the squad suffering from mental fatigue and a spate of injuries, Guardiola hinted that the January transfer window might provide a much-needed boost. Speaking to Prime Video ahead of City's clash with Everton, he addressed the possibility of new signings.
"If we can, we have to add [players in January], definitely, yes," Guardiola admitted, taking his earlier critiques of the squad further. His comments almost seemed like a plea to the club's hierarchy to make an effort to shake things up.
The manager was specific about where reinforcements are most needed. "We're struggling, especially at the back and in midfield. I don't know if it will happen because the January market is not easy. Everyone knows [we need signings]. I think even the players are wondering: 'Are we going to bring in some players, please?'
The long-term injury to Rodri has been a significant blow, but Guardiola has also had to contend with multiple other absences throughout the season. Compounding the issue, several players have under-performed compared to their usual high standards.
For Guardiola, this is an unfamiliar situation, but he remains optimistic that fresh additions in January could help turn things around.
