Man City have suffered six defeats from their last seven matches, with the latest coming on Sunday as the defending champions lost 2-0 to Liverpool at Anfield. In light of the crisis, captain Kyle Walker has sent a message to supporters, reassuring them that the team will soon bounce back from this dark period.
"We know our recent performances haven’t been up to the standard we expect, and we’re aware it’s been tough," the English defender wrote via an Instagram post. "But we’ve been through these challenges before, together, and we’ll come through this one as well. It’s important that we all stay together as one club, as Manchester City, through this tough spell. Your support, whether in the good times or the difficult moments, means everything to us". The 32-year-old promises his fans that City are not yet done making Premier League history as he added: "We’ve won titles in the final games of the season, and we’ve made history with a record-breaking 100-point campaign, right down to the last kick. We’ve shown time and time again that we can rise to the challenge, and we will do so again. I promise you, we’ll fight until the very end".
Manchester City face Nottingham Forest in their next fixture as Pep Guardiola will be desperate to get back to winning ways after being taunted by "sacked in the morning" chants on Liverpool's home soil at the weekend. Victory against Forest will be crucial for the Catalan manager to not lose sight of the Reds up top - 11 points ahead - but also to avoid being overtaken by his upcoming opponents, who sit behind the Citizens in 6th. But having been the only team to beat Liverpool this season, Forest will be far from easy to beat at the Etihad midweek.
