“It was important to win to be leaders"

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, scorer in Sunday's 4-0 win over Real Sociedad, said that “it was important to win today” to put the Catalan side in first place in La Liga EA Sports after Real Madrid's 2-1 defeat against Real Betis.
“I'm very happy with the game we played. It was important to win today to put us in the lead. We are happy because the team has been doing a great job and we put ourselves first in La Liga,” said the Uruguayan centre-back from the pitch of the Estadio Olimpico Lluis Companys.
Araujo told the 'Movistar+' microphones that he is “happy for the goal” and for being able to “help the team”. “I come from a very long injury. I am quite calm to go step by step. I have a lot of confidence in myself and in what I can contribute to the team when I feel good. I'm happy to play and help,” he added.
Finally, the defender stressed the importance of having many players in good shape: “To win the titles you need a lot of players, not just 11 or 12 players, but also a strong bench. The coach manages that very well, everyone who enters the pitch enters with confidence and happiness, and knows that they can help the team. I'm very happy with that”.
