Cole Palmer has written his name in Premier League history books by becoming the league’s record holder for consecutive penalty goals. The Chelsea star scored twice from the spot in their thrilling clash against Tottenham on Sunday, extending his perfect penalty streak to 12 and surpassing Yaya Toure's long-standing record of 11.
The record-breaking moment came during Chelsea's 4-3 victory in Premier League matchday 15 fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Palmer's first penalty, a cool and precise effort, brought Chelsea level in the match. His second, a daring Panenka late in the game, sealed the win and cemented his place in Premier League folklore.
"I tried the Panenka and thankfully it went in... it was a bit frantic and the game was all over the place. I thought the keeper was ready to dive so I just chipped it.... It was good," the 22-year-old said after his team's win.
The midfielder's feat breaks the record held by Manchester City legend Yaya Toure, whose flawless penalty record from 2011 to 2014 was regarded as untouchable.
