Manchester United made the sacking of Erik ten Hag official on Monday morning. The Dutch coach lasted three seasons at the reins of the Old Trafford outfit and all signs are pointing to a Portuguese to replace him.
Just hours after the departure of the former Ajax boss was made official, rumours emerged from Portugal of a possible move to the Red Devils by Sporting CP coach Ruben Amorim.
On Tuesday morning Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Portuguese coach had given the green light for the move, although negotiations between the two clubs are still ongoing. However, Amorim responded to the rumours in the press ahead of the Portuguese Cup quarter-final against Nacional.
"I was already expecting this question and obviously I'm not going to talk about the future, because otherwise I'll always have to comment. I’m very proud to be Sporting coach, that’s all," said the Portuguese coach.
